The Lost Series
The 1950′s all-star cast included Buster James as commander Lance Neutron, Irene Bennis as Sience Officer Sally Starblast, and comedian Casper Branom as Chief Engineer Bobby Quark.
Lost for decades, the film reels of Galactic Squad were recently discovered at an estate sale. Myra Flowers, granddaughter of the legendary film director Lawrence Flowers was cleaning out her grandfather’s house to prepare for the sale of the estate. She had no idea of the significance of the old reels of film she had found boxed up in her grandfather’s basement.
“My thought was it’s all got to go!”, said Flowers in an interview today. “There was so much stuff he had stored in the house that I just got tired of looking through it all and just started moving it all out for the sale.”
As soon as estate sale browser, John Buechler laid eyes on the boxes of film and saw “Galactic Squad – Episode 4″ hand written in marker on one of the film cases he knew he had found a treasure. “At first I thought it was a prank or something. But after closer inspection and asking a few questions I knew this was for real!”, said Buechler. “Galactic Squad is a national treasure that needs to be resurrected and shared. It inspired a generation of kid’s imaginations. Some of of those kids went on to become the greatest Sci-Fi filmmakers to date.”
Buechler and Flowers have already contacted the American Film Institute about preserving the films and creating digital masters to release to the world.
